Southampton’s long-serving Premier League ace Steven Davis has been heavily linked with a return to Scottish Premiership giants Rangers.

The rumours linking Steven Davis with an emotional return to Rangers have been doing the rounds for the best part of a year. And it seems that they were not exactly wide of the mark.
According to the Scottish Sun, Davis has agreed an 18-month deal to leave Southampton for Rangers with a medical understood to be taking place in the near future.
The Northern Ireland skipper has reportedly agreed a £12,000-a-week contract which will see him take a big pay cut in order to join the Steven Gerrard revolution in the blue half of Glasgow.
And, in quotes reported by the Daily Record, Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhuttl has broken his silence about Davis’ future – and it is music to the ears of Rangers fans.
“The fact is that he has a contract here until the summer so what we want to give him is a chance to make the next step. If it is a possibility (to leave) then we will help him to do so,” said Hasenhuttl of the 34-year-old, who moved to Southampton from Rangers in 2012.

“I think he has done a lot for this club and we want to find a good solution where we have a win-win situation for both sides.”
Davis is clearly not in Hasenhuttl’s plans given that he has not featured since the former RB Leipzig and Ingolstadt boss took over from Mark Hughes at St Mary’s a month ago.
And a player with his experience and quality would be a welcome addition to a Rangers side aiming to end Celtic’s seven-year reign at the top of Scottish football.
