Could Premier League newcomers Wolverhampton Wanderers have a chance of signing AC Milan’s Serie A striker Andre Silva after all?
Wolverhampton Wanderers’ protracted chase of Andre Silva looked set to end in disappointment this week.
The £33 million Jorge Mendes client has been linked with an eye-catching move to Molineux since as far back as January, due to a difficult debut season at Italian giants AC Milan. The recently departed sporting director Massimiliano Mirabelli was even quoted by O Jogo a fortnight ago claiming that the Rossineri had turned down a bid from Wolves.
Reports in Fanatik, however, appeared to kill off the hopes of the Premier League newcomers. Galatasaray had reportedly agreed a deal to sign Silva on loan, but were still yet to convince the Portuguese number nine about the benefits of a short-term stint in Istanbul.
Although the Wolves faithful are not giving up just yet. With Mendes pulling the strings, anything seems possible at Molineux right now; even signing a striker who was one of the most coveted goal-scorers in Europe during his time with Porto.
According to Sky Sports, Milan have agreed a deal to sign Gonzalo Higuain on loan from Juventus with an option to make his signing permanent next summer for £32 million.
And some of the more optimistic Wolves fans believe this could free up Silva to make the long-awaited switch to England.
