Sean Longstaff’s contract at Premier League giants Newcastle United ends in the summer and Rangers want to take him to Ibrox.

Emerson Hyndman made a real impact at Rangers in the second half of last season. The American international moved to Ibrox on a short-term loan deal from Premier League side Bournemouth and immediately emerged as one of the club’s key men.
His vision and creativity immediately added a touch of guile to a gritty engine room, while he ended his loan spell with four goals in 17 games, making him the club’s second most prolific midfielder behind Andy Halliday.
And 12 months on, Rangers will be hoping that Sean Longstaff can make a similar impression at Ibrox. Another Premier League youngster crying out for an opportunity, The Chronicle states that the Newcastle United starlet is on Rangers’ radar.

With his contract due to expire at the end of this season, it is understood that Rangers have scouted the 20-year-old with the view to nabbing him on a free.
A technically gifted midfielder with an eye for the spectacular, Longstaff has been turning heads on loan at League One Blackpool with six goals to his name this season.
“He’s benefitting from playing week in, week out and he’s got six goals, which is an incredible return for someone of his age,” Tangerines manager Gary Bowyer said in quotes reported by The Chronicle.

“He is going to be some player.”
Newcastle would surely be loath to lose one of their most exciting academy graduates in years but, if Rangers can land Longstaff on a free, they will be getting a goal-scoring midfielder with huge potential.
As Bowyer said, he is going to be quite the footballer in time.
