Danny Fox has been in impressive form since Aitor Karanka took over at Championship side Nottingham Forest, but does he deserve to stay at the City Ground?

It would not be an exaggeration to suggest that Nottingham Forest fans have been split down the middle by the news that Danny Fox has signed a new contract at the City Ground.
The 31-year-old had made it clear that he wanted to remain with the East Midland giants when his deal was due to run out in the summer and he has now got his wish. According to the Nottingham Post, Fox has signed a one-year extension that will keep him at Forest until the summer of 2019.
And, based on his performances over the last few months, the former Southampton defender is certainly worth keeping around.

Fox is perhaps more known for playing at left-back but has thrived since being moved to centre-half by manager Aitor Karanka in recent months, and he has struck up an excellent partnership with January signing Tobias Figueiredo. Whoever said you can’t teach an old dog new tricks?
Since Karanka replaced Mark Warburton three months ago, Fox has started 12 Championship games and helped Forest pick up five clean sheets in that time. Considering Forest had the second worst defensive record in the league last season and were on track to record a similar feat this time around, such a statistic should not be understated.

But it seems Fox still has work to do to convince some fans that he deserves to stay another year.
