Robert Snodgrass has started three of West Ham United’s Premier League games under Manuel Pellegrini but Manuel Lanzini will be back soon.

It has been a dreadful start to life for Manuel Pellegrini at West Ham United and the absence of star man Manuel Lanzini hasn’t helped.

The Chilean has lost all four of his Premier League games since taking over at the London Stadium. Although his hopes of turning the ship around will no doubt be aided when Lanzini returns from an injury that kept him out of Argentina’s World Cup campaign.

West Ham’s head of medical, Richard Collinge, has provided some positive news about the 25-year-old’s situation.

“We’re really pleased for Manu and it’s great to have him back,” Collinge told the club’s official website. “He’s now at the three-month stage, so I flew out to see Manu and his consultant Dr Cugat at the weekend and the doctor is very happy with his progress after three months.

“We’re moving in the right direction.”

When Lanzini is fit and firing, you can be assured that he is likely to walk straight back into West Ham’s starting XI; which means one man will have to give way.

And perhaps the player most in danger of the chop is Robert Snodgrass. The 31-year-old appeared to have no future at West Ham after spending last season on loan at Aston Villa, but he has started three Premier League games under Pellegrini already.

Snodgrass has not exactly seized his second chance, however, and was subbed off at half time in the recent defeat to Wolves. So he could be facing a race against time to prove himself before Lanzini’s return.

Lanzini will likely slot in on the left, with Felipe Anderson potentially moving across to take Snodgrass’s role on the right-hand side of West Ham’s starting XI.
