West Ham United have been linked with the Liverpool striker for a considerable amount of time.

Slaven Bilic’s comments to West Ham United’s official website could hint that Liverpool’s Daniel Sturridge will not be a target for the London side this summer.

Sturridge has been linked with West Ham for some time, with the England international striker’s future at Anfield in serious doubt. Liverpool are said to be willing to sell Sturridge this summer, but they do want around £40 million for the clinical forward (Daily Mail).

However, Bilic has admitted that he has been frustrated with West Ham’s injury problems this season.

The Croatian boss has dealt with more than his fair share of fitness problems, with the Hammers’ treatment room being very busy throughout the season.

And Bilic insists that next campaign, he wants the Hammers to significantly reduce the amount of injury problems they suffer.

He said: “Next season, not only do we have to improve our performances, but we need to stay away from injuries and to try to strengthen our squad.”

Bilic’s comments prove that a move for Sturridge would make no sense, given his struggles to stay fit.

Sturridge is one of the most injury prone players in the Premier League, and simply cannot be relied upon.

And although he would bring quality to West Ham, if Bilic truly does not want to take any risks on the injury front next season, then Sturridge will surely not be on his wishlist.
