Diego Polenta reportedly wasn’t keen on joining Championship outfit Leeds United – now, is a move to Serie A on the cards?

You’d think most players would jump at the chance to work under the legendary Marcelo Bielsa, especially if they are currently without a club.
According to Ovacion in June, however, Leeds United tried and failed to convince Diego Polenta to move to Elland Road during the summer. This is despite the fact that the former Uruguay U20 international left Nacional just weeks earlier.
Fast forward 6 months, and the 26-year-old is still without a club and hasn’t played a competitive game since the end of last season.
Mediaset is reporting, however, that Polenta is now being considered by AC Milan as the Serie A powerhouse scours the free-agent market for a centre-back capable of easing their defensive injury crisis. Captain Alessio Romagnoli has recently been ruled out for a number of weeks with a thigh injury.

Milan may not be the side they once were, but the Rossoneri remain one of the most high-profile clubs anywhere in world football. They also appear to be on the way back to the top under Gennaro Gattuso too, sitting fifth in the Serie A table and just four points behind city rivals Inter in third.
And while Leeds are in a great position to seal a return to the Premier League in 2019, you could hardly blame Palenta from being rather more excited by the prospect of following in the footsteps of Paolo Maldini, Alessandro Nesta, Franco Baresi and the rest.
