Rangers reportedly wanted to sign Simon Deli from Slavia Prague before he moved to Club Brugge instead.

Simon Deli has become a fan favourite in record time at Club Brugge.
After nine games, the former Slavia Prague centre-back is unbeaten, winning seen and drawing the other two, while guiding Brugge to second in the Belgian top flight not to mention the group stages of the Champions League.
Deli even has a pair of goals and an assist to his name. Yes, it’s fair to say he’s been worth every penny of his £2.25 million price tag.
Just two months ago, however, it was far from certain that Deli would even end up in Brugge. According to iSPORT, Scottish Premiership giants Rangers were also interested in an Ivory Coast international with 14 caps to his name.
Deli is a towering centre-half who won the Czech League title twice in three years in Prague. He shone too in the Europa League last season, particularly in a thrilling knockout clash against Chelsea.

Proven on the continent and boasting a fierce winning mentality, you can see why Rangers wanted him with Steven Gerrard’s side desperate to compete both at home and abroad.
And as Deli goes from strength to strength in Belgium, The Gers will be thanking their lucky stars that Nikola Katic and Conor Goldson have started the season so impressively. Otherwise this would feel like a real missed opportunity.
