It seems a long time since Silvio was playing for Wolverhampton Wanderers.
The eight-time Portugal international was one of the first additions of the Fosun International reign, having arrived from Atletico Madrid in the summer of 2016 alongside the likes of Helder Costa, Paul Gladon and Romain Saiss.
But, after just five appearances in an injury-ruined debut season at Molineux, the Express and Star reports that Wolves decided against extending his contract and released the versatile full-back just over a year ago.
Has the 31-year-old spent the last 17 months showing that Wolves were wrong to discard him? Not really.
Silvio returned to his native Portugal in February with SC Braga, but he is hardly a regular in the starting XI. Instead, the Primeira Liga side signed the former Benfica man for their B team and he made 12 appearances in Portugal’s second tier in the second half of 2017/18.
These days, according to Transfermarkt, Silvio is without a club with his career prospects seemingly on the line.
It is fair to say that Wolves’ recruitment has improved since the early days of their Chinese ownership.
