Watford are reportedly leading the race to sign Porto’s Primeira Liga champion Brahimi on a free transfer.
Watford fans are getting seriously excited by the prospect of Yacine Brahimi arriving in Vicarage Road in the summer.
The Hornets have pulled off some impressive transfer coups in recent seasons, signing the likes of Roberto Perreyra and Gerard Deulofeu from Juventus and Barcelona respectively, and appear to be on the lookout for another Champions League attacker.
Calciomercato reports that Watford are leading the chase to sign Brahimi when his contract at Porto expires at the end of the season.
A 28-year-old winger who won the African Footballer of the Year award in 2014, Brahimi helped inspire Porto to their first Primeira Liga title in five years last season. And he has impressed in 2018/19 too, scoring nine goals and assisting six more in all competitions.
So what a signing he could be for Javi Gracia’s overachieving side, particularly on a free transfer.
Whether Watford will get their man, however, remains to be seen. There are surely a number of other clubs interested as Brahimi’s contract ticks down with Everton heavily linked ever since they failed with a £33.5 million bid in the summer of 2016 (Mirror).
