Kieran Richardson is training with Championship side West Bromwich Albion as he aims to boost his fitness.

Fans of West Bromwich Albion really did not expect to see Kieran Richardson back wearing a Baggies strip.
The hero of their ‘great escape’ in ’05, the Birmingham Mail reports that the now 33-year-old has been training with West Brom in order to boost his fitness as he aims to get his career back on track.
Richardson has not played a game of competitive football since a short spell at Cardiff City in 2016, but he did manage 45 minutes in West Brom’s 3-0 pre-season friendly win against Barnet on Sunday.
The Birmingham Mail claims that Richardson is only back in the Midlands to improve his fitness and, as things stand, there is no contract on the table. But should a West Brom side looking to bounce immediately back to the Premier League consider re-signing the former England international?

For some West Brom fans, giving Richardson a second chance is so low risk it might as well be considered. Even in his thirties, and with his career having stalled, the former Aston Villa man still offers plenty of versatility and a real set-piece threat.
For others, however, it is a little frustrating to see Richardson handed vital minutes in pre-season when West Brom have some exciting young prospects waiting in the wings.
