The winger has been in prolific form for Barcelona this season, even if game time has been hard to come by, but should Tottenham Hotspur make a move?

While there is no obvious weakness in a formidable Tottenham Hotspur starting XI, the options in reserve can leave a lot to be desired. Beyond Harry Kane, there is Vincent Janssen, beyond Christian Eriksen, there is Moussa Sissoko, beyond Jan Vertonghen, there is Kevin Wimmer.

And in the forward areas in particular, Mauricio Pochettino’s squad is very much reliant on the established, first-team stars, meaning the usual suspects are forced to start almost every game. And that does not bode well with Spurs aiming to balance domestic and European competition as their disastrous Champions League campaign this season may attest.

Therefore, it could play into their hands that Barcelona must sell before they can reinvest in the squad this summer, AS reports. And few players would better complement the Tottenham forward line than Arda Turan.

Formerly the creative king-pin of Atletico Madrid, the Turkish international has featured far more sporadically since moving to the Camp Nou.

His finest performances for the club have come on the left of the front three rather than in midfield; unfortunately, the presence of a certain abbreviated forward trio means opportunities in his preferred position do not come around too often.

Nonetheless, Turan has still managed to hit a remarkable 13 goals in 29 games in all competitions, a one-in-two goalscoring record, making this the most prolific season of his career. Furthermore, his Champions League experience could prove invaluable to a Spurs side desperate to progress on the continent while also allowing Pochettino to rotate his front line.
