Championship giants Nottingham Forest are reportedly set to bring former Olympiakos goalkeeper Stefanos Kapino to the City Ground.

Nottingham Forest appeared to finally bring an end to their pursuit of a new number one when completing the signing of Costel Pantilimon on loan from Watford on transfer deadline day.
But, according to Sport.fm, the giant Romanian may not be the only new goalkeeper at the City Ground this winter. It is understood that Forest are closing in on the signing of Stefanos Kapino on a free transfer.
The 23-year-old is a nine-time Greek international who played five Champions League games for Olympiakos this season. On paper, then, he is a good addition to a Forest side who have the third worst defensive record in the Championship as things stand.

Yet the fact that Kapino finds himself currently without a club midway through the campaign should perhaps be a cause for concern.
The harsh truth is that the highly-rated shot-stopper has endured something of a nightmare season. He started 2017/18 as Olympiakos’s number one despite the addition of the highly-rated Belgian Silvio Proto but, by September, he had been dropped to the reserves.
Sport 24 claim that Kapino was ousted due to a costly error in a defeat to AEK Athens, and it is claimed that owner Evangelos Marinakis allegedly played a big part in deciding that he should lose his place in the team due to problems behind the scenes.

Kapino never played for the Greek giants again and was released just a few months later.
Intriguingly, however, Marinakis is also the owner of Kapino’s soon-to-be new employers Forest. So there is a rather intriguing backstory to this latest potential addition.
