League One Sunderland are linked with Dundee’s Glen Kamara, as are Scottish duo Rangers and Celtic.

Glen Kamara will not be short of options should he decide to jump ship from Scottish Premiership strugglers Dundee in the January transfer window.

The former Arsenal youngster has been a big hit since he moved to Dens Park on a free transfer in 2017. According to the Mail, Sunderland are keen to sign the 22-year-old, who is in the final year of his contract and could be available on a cut-price deal in January.

The report adds that Rangers, Celtic and Wolves have also been watching Kamara closely in recent months. But if the Finland international is keen to continue playing regular first-team football, albeit in new surroundings, Sunderland is perhaps the best option available to him.

After all, Kamara is never going to get in Wolves’ XI ahead of Ruben Neves or Joao Moutinho. Nuno Espirito Santo recently became the first manager to name the same starting line-up for the first eight games of a new season, so rotation is not high on his list of priorities.

Celtic, meanwhile, signed Youssouf Mulumbu as back-up to captain Scott Brown in the summer, while central midfield is arguably the strongest area of Rangers’ current squad with Jason Holt and Greg Docherty out on loan.

Sunderland might not be fighting for the Scottish Premiership title or taking England’s top flight by storm, but Kamara should be tempted by playing an important role in the Black Cats’ rise back up the divisions.
