Premier League outfit Everton appear to be looking for playmakers with Arsenal’s Jack Wilshere and Norwich City’s James Maddison under consideration.

James Maddison looks tailor made for the Premier League and most of the top flight’s big boys seem to agree.

According to The Sun (27th March, page 55), Everton have joined Tottenham, Manchester City and Merseyside rivals Liverpool in checking out the 21-year-old Norwich City sensation, who has scored or assisted 20 Championship goals this season.

With a fee of £25 million being touted, Maddison has the potential and the natural ability to be worth far more after a few years of Premier League football.

He would be a fine investment for Everton – but perhaps not as much as the free signing of one Jack Wilshere.

The Sun have linked Toffees boss Sam Allardyce, the former England manager, with a player he knows and admires greatly.

The fact that Wilshere is out of contract at Arsenal this summer is well documented and, despite overcoming those injury problems to become a regular starter in midfield, the London giants are yet to tie the 25-year-old down.

Jack Wilshere of Arsenal is chased by N'Golo Kante of Chelsea during the Carabao Cup Semi-Final Second Leg at Emirates Stadium on January 24, 2018 in London, England.

So anyone who signs Wilshere for nothing will be pulling off one of the best deals of the summer transfer window. The 34-cap England international has reminded everyone in recent months just how talented he is with a series of excellent displays in the centre of the park, not least against N’Golo Kante in the EFL Cup semi-final win against Chelsea.

Maddison is a huge talent – but players of Wilshere’s ilk don’t come around often for club’s like Everton, especially for free.
