Norwich City will reportedly release Wes Hoolahan this summer but could he make a difference at Scottish Premiership giants Celtic?

Celtic’s attack has looked a little stale at times since the turn of the year.

The Hoops might be en route to a successive domestic treble but the goals are not quite flowing as freely as they did 12 months ago. Kilmarnock, Motherwell, Dundee and St Johnstone have all kept Brendan Rodgers’ side off the score sheet since the turn of the year, with a lack of vision, subtlety or creativity in the centre of the park being lamented by groups of supporters.

Celtic's head coach Brendan Rodgers talks during a press conference in Brussels on September 26, 2017 on the eve of the Champions League group B) football match against RSC Anderlecht.

Stuart Armstrong, Olivier Ntcham, Callum McGregor and co are not the sort of players likely to open up a tightly locked defence. So the impending availability of lifelong Celtic fanatic Wes Hoolahan should be seen as a viable option.

According to the Pink ‘Un, the Republic of Ireland international is set to leave Norwich City this summer when his contract expires. And, despite turning 36 next month, his mind is as sharp as ever.

Only last season, Hoolahan scored seven and set up 11 league goals, those clever shimmies and perfectly weighted through balls ensuring that creative spark endures.

“I am a massive Celtic fan,” a fresh-faced Hoolahan admitted to RTE in 2007 when preparing to play the Hoops, and his idol Roy Keane, during his formative days at Livingston.

11 years later, Celtic should consider making Hoolahan’s dream come true. His best years might be behind him, but there is no doubt he has plenty to offer a side who have struggled to turn possession into chances at times.
