West Bromwich Albion are understood to be interested in signing Keiren Westwood with Championship outfit Sheffield Wednesday keen to sell.

West Bromwich Albion seemed all but certain to sign Simon Moore – until the 28-year-old goalkeeper surprisingly signed a three-year contract extension with Sheffield United on Thursday.
According to the Birmingham Mail, Moore was The Baggies’ first choice as they aim to add a third goalkeeper to their squad after the additions of Sam Johnstone and Jonathan Bond earlier in the summer.
But the failure to land Moore after weeks of speculation means West Brom are back to the drawing board. Though it seems that they have already got a new target in mind.
The Mail (live blog, 1.26pm) claims that West Brom are among a number of clubs keen to sign Keiren Westwood, who is understood to have been made available with Sheffield Wednesday aiming to reduce the size of their squad.

But why should Westwood, who has been one of the most impressive goalkeepers in the Championship in recent seasons, move to The Hawthorns in order to sit on the bench?
Johnstone, a £6 million signing from Manchester United, is understood to be Darren Moore’s first choice after shining on loan at Midland rivals Aston Villa in the second tier. This would leave 33-year-old Westwood, who was restricted to 18 Championship starts last season, stuck in the dugout once again.
If he wants regular first-team football, the Republic of Ireland international would be better off waiting for other offers.
