West Bromwich Albion had reportedly bid for Simon Moore but the goalkeeper has decided to stay at Sheffield United.

Well this came out of nowhere.

It seemed that Simon Moore was bound for West Bromwich Abion this summer. The Express and Star claimed just over a week ago that the Baggies were in talks with the Sheffield United goalkeeper and the Mail then went on to state that a bid had been made.

As recently as Tuesday, the Express and Star added to the mounting speculation by stating that Moore’s move to the Midlands was edging ever closer, with West Brom hoping to complete a deal within the next few days.

Now, there has been an official announcement on his future. But Moore cannot be seen posing in West Brom’s new goalkeeping kit.

On the contrary, Sheffield United’s official website has confirmed that the 28-year-old has signed a three-year deal with the Blades instead.

Fortunately for the Baggies, however, they do already have two new goalkeepers in Sam Johnstone and Jonathan Bond. But it has been reported that West Brom are hoping to have three potential number ones in their squad for next season.

As a result, the Birmingham Mail claims that they will now look to scour the market for alternatives with goalkeeping coach Neil Cutler believing that a third is required in order to instil healthy competition for a starting place.

West Brom had made Moore their top target and his arrival would have allowed young Alex Palmer the chance to leave on loan. It remains to be seen who the Baggies turn to next.
