Sheffield United and Sheffield Wednesday played out a 0-0 draw at Bramall Lane, with Owls goalkeeper Cameron Dawson the hero.

Michael Brown represented the likes of Leeds, Fulham, Portsmouth and Tottenham during his playing days, but the one-time midfielder will perhaps be best remembered for his time with Sheffield United.
After a brief but impressive loan spell in the 1999/00 season, Brown moved to Sheffield United on a permanent basis and remains hugely respected at Bramall Lane to this day. The now 41-year-old was named the Blades’ Player of the Year in 2002/03 after a career-best 22 goals in all competitions.
So there is no doubt that he will have been left disappointed about Sheffield United’s failure to beat bitter Steel City rivals Wednesday in Friday’s headline Championship clash.
United were forced to settle for a goalless draw at home as Cameron Dawson, Wednesday’s local lad goalkeeper, saved a David McGoldrick spot-kick.
Speaking to EFL on Quest (10 November, 9:00pm), Brown has paid tribute to Sheffield Wednesday’s defence while taking the time to praise United’s own defenders Jack O’Connell and Chris Basham.
“They definitely deserve credit. They were under pressure, no clean sheets for the season and under pressure the manager,” Brown said. “But they defended excellently.”

“Sheffield United, first half O’Connell, Basham down the right hand side overlapping and getting crosses in. They were magnificent.
“But Wednesday defended excellently.”
As Brown pointed out, Wednesday secured their first clean sheet of the season against United, something which will have come as a massive relief to the under pressure manager Jos Luhukay.
The test now is whether they can build on a performance that showed character and organisation in equal measure.
