Does Shayon Harrison have a future in the Premier League with Mauricio Pochettino’s Spurs? He needs to impress in the A-League with Melbourne City.

Shayon Harrison is already loving life Down Under after sealing a loan move from Tottenham Hotspur to Melbourne City for the rest of the season.

The 21-year-old was once seen as a potential star of the future in North London but his stock has fallen after a number of disappointing temporary spells, scoring just one goal in 27 league games at Yeovil Town and Southend United.

So Harrison will be hoping to make a much bigger impact in the A-League, having joined Manchester City’s sister club on transfer deadline day last week.

“It’s a big challenge for me coming so far away from home. I know the A-League is a very physical league, so I’m really excited to play men’s football,” he told the Daily Football Show.

“I think that’s the next step for me and I’m really excited.

“It was kind of a no-brainer for me, I just wanted to get the deal done and I know it’ll be a big challenge because I live so far away.”

Harrison had his contract extended towards the end of last season but it remains to be seen whether he can make the step up to the Tottenham first-team. At the age of 21, he would have been hoping to have forced his way into Mauricio Pochettino’s plans by now.

But Harrison should take some belief from the fact that Harry Kane was something of a late-bloomer at White Hart Lane, establishing himself as the club’s talisman after a number of middling loan spells around the English lower leagues.
