Replacing Snodgrass with Anderson would be massive upgrade for West Ham

Lazio’s Serie A speedster Felipe Anderson is reportedly interested in moving to the Premier League with West Ham United.

West Ham United’s pursuit of Lazio winger Felipe Anderson is still allegedly in full flow.

The Guardian reported on Friday that representatives from the Premier League side will travel to Roma in order to discuss signing the Brazilian winger, with the Hammers willing to offer around £30 million.

Gianluca Di Marzio has even reported that Anderson himself is keen on a move to West Ham, where he could take up the maverick fan favourite mantle from Dimitri Payet.

And if Anderson does arrive, which is still not certain as Lazio have reportedly demanded closer to £44 million, he could spell the end of Robert Snodgrass’s hopes for a fresh start at the London Stadium.

Snodgrass has never really been given a chance at West Ham since arriving from Hull City in January 2016 for £10 million. He started just eight league games before being loaned to Aston Villa and was also the subject of some rather spectacular criticism from co-owner David Sullivan, who claimed his children begged him not to sign the Scotland international.

But, after his spell at Villa came to an end, Snodgrass, who set up 14 goals in a brilliant campaign, has set his heart on making a success of his time at West Ham, according to the Standard.

But if he is already behind Michail Antonio in his favoured right-wing position, he would fall further down the pecking order if Anderson – a jet-heeled, typically Brazilian attacker with an eye for goal – arrives this summer.

If West Ham are to push on they need to be ruthless, and Anderson would be a rather substantial upgrade on the ill-fitting Scot.
