The pressure ramped up on Steve Bruce again after Aston Villa drew with Preston in the Championship and Burnley boss Sean Dyche has had his say.
It is fair to say many Aston Villa fans made their feelings towards Steve Bruce very clear once again on Tuesday night.
The Villa boss is under huge pressure right now and that was not exactly alleviated by a hugely frustrating ending to the madcap midweek clash at home to Preston North End.
Glenn Whelan missed a stoppage-time penalty against the Lilywhites, consigning the Villans to a frustrating 3-3 home draw. And Bruce was once again subject to some rather harsh criticism, not least when a cabbage was thrown towards the Villa dugout from one disgruntled supporter.
Speaking on Alan Brazil’s Sports Breakfast on talkSPORT (3 October, 8.30am), Burnley manager Sean Dyche has admitted that he understands what Bruce is going through.
“The Steve Bruce one, that’s just ridiculous, it’s unacceptable no matter what’s going on on a football pitch,” Dyche said, although he is unlikely to have any vegetables launched at him by his own supporters any time soon.
“The demands are high no matter who you are, particularly in the Premier League.”
Dyche has endured a difficult time himself this season. His usually overachieving Burnley side started the season with four defeats out of five, while they were beaten by Olympiakos in a two-legged Europa League qualifying tie.
But the Clarets have found form again of late, winning their last two games against Bournemouth and Cardiff.
