Championship trio Leeds United, Nottingham Forest and QPR are allegedly keen on Scunthorpe United star Funso Ojo.

It is not often Scunthorpe United fans get to watch a former Belgium under-21 star, and a one-time PSV prospect, pulling the strings at Glanford Park.
But with clubs higher up the footballing pyramid becoming increasingly wise to Funso Ojo’s qualities, you wonder how much longer they will be able to sit back and admire arguably the best deep-lying midfielder in the third tier of English football.

The 26-year-old has been superb since arriving from Willem II in Holland’s top flight last summer, helping Scunthorpe to fourth in the League One table, and could now be rewarded with a chance at a higher level.
Leeds may have just completed the signing of Adam Forshaw from Middlesbrough (below) but Funso’s intelligent passing and composure on the ball means he should fit into Thomas Christiansen’s style while also protecting a defence which has been far too vulnerable of late.

At Forest, meanwhile, Ojo would be the first signing of the Aitor Karanka era. Forest have struggled to bring in their top midfield targets, a la Grant Leadbitter and Adam Clayton, but Ojo would be cheaper and represent perhaps a long-term successor to David Vaughan.
But if Scunthorpe fans got their way, Ojo wouldn’t be going anywhere. Certainly not for less than £1 million.
