Newcastle United are watching La Liga star Fabian Ruiz.

The fact that Barcelona are interested in Fabian Ruiz, and possibly see him as a long-term replacement for the brilliant Sergio Busquetts, is enough to get Newcastle United fans excited about the 21-year-old’s possible arrival on Tyneside.
The report adds that Everton are also keeping a close eye on arguably the most talented young Spaniard to make the breakthrough in La Liga this season. Marca state that Tottenham are firm admirers while West Ham have been closely linked too, via ESPN.

But how can a Newcastle side who have not spent a penny in the transfer window compete for a player some are even saying can surpass former Betis starlet and current Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos?
Easy. Fabian Ruiz has a £14 million release clause in his contract – for now at least – with Estadio Deportivo claiming that Betis are desperately trying to offer him a new deal and add another £20 million on to his price-tag.

But if Newcastle move now, they could complete one of the best signings of the transfer window. And while their pursuit of a number nine is a little more pressing, it is not often a truly elite talent is available for the same price that Swansea City paid for Sam Clucas.
Barcelona fans are enamoured with Fabian Ruiz already and the St James’ Park faithful should be hoping that he is heading to Tyneside rather than Catalonia.
