Premier League strugglers Southampton need a new centre-back and Boubacar Kamara is starring in Ligue 1 with Marseille.

Rightly or wrongly, Southampton have become something of a stepping stone for players keen to boost their reputation with a move to England in recent seasons.
The likes of Virgil van Dijk and Victor Wanyama starred at St Mary’s before moving on to arguably bigger things. And perhaps this is the reason why Boubacar Kamara could move to the South Coast in the near future.
The 18-year-old has forced his way into Marseille’s starting XI in recent months and has become a key player under Rudi Garcia in the opening weeks of the season. Kamara has started each of Marseille’s last four games in all competitions.
According to La Phoceen, Kamara’s performances has caught the eye of clubs across The Channel. The French publication has talked to a talent-spotter working on behalf of a Premier League club, who believes that Southampton could be an option for the teenage defender.

“For the moment, Kamara does not have the level for Liverpool, but in the meantime, will he go to Southampton or will he stay at OM?” the scout said.
The Saints have looked a little shaky at the back this season. Wesley Hoedt has come in for plenty of criticism from his own supporters of late while Jannick Vestergaard has struggled to justify his £18 million price-tag since his summer arrival from Borussia Monchengladbach.
