Liverpool sent Loris Karius to Besiktas and the goalkeeper’s Super Lig debut did not go too well.

Liverpool fans might have endured some unwelcome flashbacks to Loris Karius when Alisson conceded that goal against Leicester City on Saturday.
But they did not have to wait long to be reminded why Jurgen Klopp paid around £65 million to replace the German goalkeeper.
Karius moved to Besiktas on a two-year loan deal earlier this month after falling to second place in the pecking order at Anfield. But, if he was hoping that switch to the Super Lig would be a fresh start, free from the glaring scrutiny of the Premier League, he could have been mistaken.

Besiktas conceded a late equaliser against Bursaspor on Sunday. And, while Karius could hardly be accused of an out-and-out howler like his Champions League final horror show, the former Mainz man could surely have positioned himself a little better as Diafra Sakho’s effort squirmed in at the near post.
It was the sort of indecisive goalkeeping that frequently caused an audible intake of breath around Anfield. And Besiktas fans will have to get used to life with Karius between the sticks.
It is certainly not going to be boring. Karius did make an excellent one-on-one save early on against Bursaspor but it is fair to say that has been overshadowed, rightly or wrongly.
