Saman Ghoddos gives hope to Crystal Palace when discussing Ostersunds future

A number of Premier League clubs, Crystal Palace, West Brom, West Ham, Southampton and Brighton, are all watching Europa League star Saman Ghoddos.

Saman Ghoddos is a man in demand. The Iranian striker has been one of the starring men in Ostersunds’ rise from obscurity to the knockout rounds of the Europa League and his form in Sweden and on the continent has attracted plenty of Premier League interest.

According to The Mirror, the likes of West Ham, West Brom, Brighton and Southampton are all keen on Ghoddos and, earlier this week, it was reported that Crystal Palace had joined the chase.

Ghoddos scored eight goals in 23 games for Graham Potter’s Ostersunds last season as they qualified for Europe for the first time in their short history but he is more than just a poacher.

The 24-year-old caused no end of problems for Arsenal in their 2-1 Europa League round-of-32 win at The Emirates, setting up both goals and displaying a range of passing a cultured midfielder would be proud of, so it is no wonder the likes of Palace and West Brom, who have struggled for goals and creativity this season, are interested.

And fortunately for Ghoddos’ range of suitors, the striker has suggested that he would be open to a big move away in the summer transfer window.

“It’s great to hear about such rumours, but it’s a long way until the transfer window opens again,” the striker told Aftonbladet.

“Hopefully, there will be even more interest this summer. Until then, I’ll take one match at a time.”

The Mirror stated that Ostersunds turned down a £5 million bid from Celta Vigo in January, meaning Palace, West Brom and co would have to pay a decent fee to bring Ghoddos to England.

But he would still be well within budget.
