Celtic and Red Bull Salzburg are both hoping to qualify from their Europa League group with the Scottish Premiership side gaining six points so far.
As it stands, Celtic are very much alive and kicking in the Europa League.
Successive defeats to the Red Bull duo Leipzig and Salzburg appeared to put Brendan Rodgers’ side on the brink of an early elimination, but a rather unexpected 2-1 home win against the Bundesliga giants before the international break has breathed fresh life into their European campaign.
And, in quotes reported by the Scottish Sun, Salzburg’s talisman centre-forward Munas Dabbur has admitted that he was left shocked by Celtic’s triumph over Leipzig at Parkhead, secured thanks to goals from Kieran Tierney and Odsonne Edouard.
“If I’m honest, I was surprised that Celtic beat Leipzig in the last game, but we know Celtic at home is a different game, different football,” said the Israeli international, whose Salzburg side are due to face Celtic on match day six.
“I didn’t see their game against Leipzig but I’m sure they won’t make it easy for us in Glasgow in the last game next month.
“We need to finish the section against Leipzig so that by the time we come to Glasgow we will have qualified.”
Celtic travel to a Rosenborg side who have picked up zero points from four games on Thursday and a win would put them in an excellent position to continue their European campaign after Christmas.
And after beating Leipzig, one of the dark horses for the whole competition, Brendan Rodgers’ side can afford to travel to Norway with renewed confidence. Anything seems possible now after they defeated an impressive and talented Bundesliga side who boast the likes of Timo Werner, Bruma and Marcel Sabitzer.
