Birmingham City, Aston Villa fans react to Simon Jordan’s sly dig

We assure you, the former Crystal Palace chairman takes no pleasure riling the Birmingham City supporters.

Now we don’t want to accuse former Crystal Palace chairman Simon Jordan of doing whatever it takes so ensure he remains ‘relevant’ in the English footballing universe but it does appear that he’s on a one-man mission to write as many headlines in as many regional papers as he possibly can.

First, he claimed that Lincoln City, they of FA Cup fame, would walk the Scottish Premiership before quipping that West Ham blagged their way into the London Stadium for ‘a night out with Karen Brady and a £5’, as quoted from his official Twitter page.

And, not long after describing West Brom and its supporters as ‘horrid’, presumably while rubbing his mits together and letting out a wheezy, mischievous cackle like some quiffed, cartoon supervillain, he has now taken aim at The Baggies’ Midlands neighbours.

To think, all an innocent supporter asked was for Jordan to put his hands in his deep pockets and rescue Birmingham City.

Needless to say, such a remark has been met with different responses on either side of the Midlands divide. It’s been a disappointing season for both Birmingham and Aston Villa but, for the latter, a little dig at the neighbours is never a bad tonic for sitting in the middle of the second tier table.

Unsurprisingly, Villa fans received Jordan’s little dig in a more positive manner.
