James Tavernier has scored 16 goals and produced 20 assists at Glasgow Rangers this season.

Russell Martin has described James Tavernier as the best player in Scotland as he told the Daily Record of his admiration for the Rangers captain.
Martin only spent five months alongside Tavernier at Ibrox last season, joining the Glasgow giants on loan from Norwich City during Graeme Murty’s ill-fated reign.
But it seems that the long-serving right-back still managed to make a lasting impression on the veteran Scotland international, who is now playing in England again for League Two promotion winners MK Dons.
“I believe Rangers have the best player in Scotland in the shape of James. What he does in terms of a right-back is incredible. He drives the team forward by what he does, scoring goals and leading by example,” said the former Norwich City hero Martin.
“He’s not an old-school captain in terms of ranting and raving. But there are guys who lead by character and others who lead by example. Tav steps up during times of adversity and has got better season after season.”
Tavernier has continued to post some remarkable statistics since Martin’s departure 12 months ago.

In all competitions, he has produced 16 goals and 20 assists from right-back this season, ensuring that he has remained one of the first players on the team-sheet during Steven Gerrard’s debut season at Ibrox.
As a result, Tavernier is constantly being linked with a move away from Scotland with the Birmingham Mail claiming recently that West Brom have renewed their interest in a player they bid for last summer.
But it seems that the former Wigan ace has no plans to leave just yet.
