Rushian Hepburn-Murphy just cannot catch a break.
The 20-year-old striker has suffered injury after injury since making his debut in Aston Villa’s first-team two years ago and he has spent yet more time on the sidelines in the last few weeks.
Hepburn-Murphy has not been seen since September due to fitness issues, but certainly made an impression on his return to action for the U23s.
The forward came off the bench for Villa’s U23s in the weekend clash against Reading and scored just minutes after his introduction, although this was not enough as a late strike from Ben House secured a dramatic 5-4 win for the Royals.
Hepburn-Murphy has now taken to Twitter and he is clearly overjoyed after finding himself back on a football pitch again.
Hepburn-Murphy was barely given a chance by Steve Bruce even when fully fit, but the arrival of Dean Smith as Villa manager should boost his first-team prospects.
Smith has built an impressive reputation on exciting attacking football and his willingness to give youth a chance.
So Villa fans can expect to see the likes of Hepburn-Murphy, Callum O’Hare and Corey Blackett-Taylor in the first-team soon.
