Scottish Premiership champions Celtic have been linked with Manchester City’s Thierry Ambrose – what does this mean for Moussa Dembele?

Is it any coincidence that Celtic have been linked with a move for young Manchester City forward Thierry Ambrose on the same day that Moussa Dembele’s future was cast into doubt once again?

According to Onze Mondail, Celtic have been scouting the highly-rated City starlet, who scored 10 times during an impressive loan spell at Eredivisie outfit NAC Breda last season.

Shortly afterwards, the Daily Record claimed that The Hoops have accepted that Dembele could be on his way this summer with Dortmund, Marseille, Juventus, Chelsea and Crystal Palace all circling around the prolific Frenchman.

So despite Ambrose’s obvious potential, some Celtic fans are a little concerned that reported interested in him could spell the end of Dembele’s career at Parkhead. After all, Brendan Rodgers already has Leigh Griffiths in his ranks and sealed a permanent deal for Odsonne Edouard this week – so what need is there for Ambrose if Dembele was to stay?

In truth, however, the 21-year-old is not a natural centre-forward. Like his namesake Thierry Henry, Ambrose is at his best when driving into the box from a wide position, cutting inside onto his devastating right foot.

Ambrose, funnily enough, could more likely be a replacement for his fellow Man City youngster Patrick Roberts than Dembele.
