Premier League champions Manchester City are reportedly set to send another talented youngster to Scottish Premiership winners Celtic – Daniel Arzani.

The youngest player at this year’s World Cup could be playing for Celtic next season.

That is according to the Daily Mail (live blog, 1.13pm), who claim that Daniel Arzani is set to be signed by Manchester City before being loaned out to the Scottish Premiership champions.

It is understood that the 2018 Premier League winners have seen off competition from PSV and Roma to sign the 19-year-old winger from their Australian sister club Melbourne City for a bargain fee of just £280,000.

And Celtic are once again set to benefit from their relationship with the Manchester giants. Arzani would become the fourth player to join on loan from City in recent seasons, following in the footsteps of John Guidetti, Jason Denayer and Patrick Roberts.

It is the latter, however, that Arzani will be most frequently compared to. Like Roberts, Arzani is a tricky and direct winger who loves to cut inside and cause havoc for opposition defences.

He has been described by some as Australia’s most exciting talent since a certain Harry Kewell and certainly caught the eye at the World Cup, where he came off the bench in all three group stage games to add speed and unpredictability in attack.

Named the A-League’s Young Footballer of the Year in 2018 and included in the league’s Team of the Season, the Iran-born Arzani has the potential to make a huge impact at Celtic. Whisper it, but he is an even bigger prospect than three-time Scottish Premiership champion Roberts.
