Scott Allan has not played a single Scottish Premiership game for Celtic since Brendan Rodgers arrived at Parkhead in 2016.

Two gifted midfielders returned to Celtic this summer after excellent loan spells at rival Scottish Premiership clubs.
But, while Ryan Christie is slowly but surely forcing his way into Brendan Rodgers’ plans, coming off the bench for the final 15 minutes of Sunday’s Old Firm derby win against Rangers, Scott Allan has once again found himself well down the pecking order.
The 26-year-old has not featured in any of Celtic’s games this season and has only been on the bench three times. In fact, since Rodgers arrived in 2016, Allan has not made a single appearance for the Hoops and has been farmed out to Rotherham, Dundee and Hibernian.
Having said that, Celtic and Rodgers could perhaps be making a mistake writing off a player who reminded everyone why they signed him in the first place last season.
Allan was back to his best after returning to Hibs on loan. He ended the 2017/18 season with four goals and an impressive 14 assists in all competitions. Neil Lennon even described him as ‘unplayable’ in a 2-1 win against Rangers in February, as reported by the Edinburgh Times.

In truth, the enigmatic Allan looked every inch as talented as John McGinn, the midfielder Celtic spent over a year trying to sign, at times in Hibs colours.
“Scott will definitely stay. He’s a good player who I saw when he was at West Brom. I really like what I’ve seen of him,” Rodgers stated at the start of the 2016/17 season, as reported by the Daily Record.
Maybe it is about time Rodgers actually gave Allan the chance to shine.
