Premier League giants Liverpool have reportedly snubbed Celtic’s hopes of signing Harry Wilson.

Brendan Rodgers’ reluctance to give Charly Musonda a real chance during his loan spell from Chelsea in the second half of last season is looking more and more like a big mistake.

Not just because Celtic were denied an opportunity to give one of the Premier League’s most exciting attacking starlets the chance to develop in Scotland. Chelsea decided to cancel Musonda’s loan spell in the spring with one year remaining on his deal.

A number of Celtic supporters were frustrated with Rodgers’ marginalisation of the hugely gifted Musonda, especially with the Hoops struggling at times for creativity and attacking spark as they stuttered to a seventh straight league title.

And now, the Liverpool Echo is reporting that it was not just Chelsea who were unimpressed by Rodgers’ use of Musonda.

The report stated that Celtic were keen to land the coveted Welshman Harry Wilson on loan from Liverpool for next season but the Reds have now snubbed their offer.

It is understood that Liverpool were worried about how little Musonda played at Parkhead and have decided against entrusting their former manager with the precocious talent that is Wilson; a player the Reds are determined to see benefit from regular first-team football.

Suddenly, Rodgers’ decision to leave Musonda out of his plans has allegedly cost Celtic the chance to sign one of the most promising youngsters around.
