Leicester City’s £10m midfielder Nampalys Mendy is reportedly attracting attention from a number of clubs after a decent Premier League season.

Clubs are queuing up to sign Nampalys Mendy from Leicester City this summer, according to the Leicester Mercury, but Brendan Rodgers is keen to keep the midfielder at the King Power Stadium.

The former France U21 international joined the Foxes from Nice for £10 million as part of their ill-fated recruitment drive in the summer of 2016, as reported by the Guardian. But at least he is still plying his trade in the Midlands, unlike Ahmed Musa, Luis Hernandez, Ron-Robert Zieler and Islam Slimani.

The hard-working midfielder has played 31 Premier League games this season, although he has often been used from the bench since Rodgers arrived in February.

And, according to the Mercury, there are a number of clubs looking to sign Mendy during the summer transfer window – though the identity of his suitors are unknown as it stands.

Rodgers, however, has made it clear that he has no interest in selling a player who’s tough-tackling style gives Leicester’s more creative players a platform upon which to strut their stuff.

Nampalys Mendy of Leicester City arrives ahead of the Premier League match between Leicester City and Chelsea FC at The King Power Stadium on May 12, 2019 in Leicester, United Kingdom.

“I really like him,” said Rodgers, who has often included academy graduate Hamza Choudhury alongside Wilfred Ndidi instead.

“He is a player who has been outstanding in training. He has got on with his work and respects the position he is in, and I am sure there would be interest in him, but our plan is to keep what we have and look to add some more quality.”

Leicester are already facing a battle to keep Harry Maguire, Ben Chilwell and Youri Tielemans, so any interest in Mendy will hardly be well received.
