Unai Emery’s Arsenal reportedly want to bring long-time Real Madrid target Exequiel Palacios to the Premier League.

River Plate starlet Exequiel Palacios has opened up on a potential move to Arsenal and admitted that he is proud to be linked with a club of the Gunners stature, in quotes reported by the Metro.

With funds tight at The Emirates due to the club’s failure to qualify for the Champions League for a third straight season, Arsenal appear to have turned to some of the world’s most promising young talents as they look to build a team worthy of competing at home and abroad in the next few years.

TNT Sports claimed last week that 20-year-old attacking midfielder Palacios is one such name on their radar, alongside Boca Juniors duo Nahitan Nandez and Emanuel Reynoso.

Palacios is perhaps the most exciting of the three, having already made two appearances for the Argentine national team while catching the eye with his all-action style and ability to create chances at will.

And Arsenal fans should see their mood lifted as Palacios expresses plenty of pride about having forced his way onto their summer wish list.

“I’m proud clubs like Real Madrid and Arsenal are interested in me,” he said.

Palacios was expected to join Real Madrid for £18 million this summer but, according to AS, Los Blancos have now taken up their final ‘Non-EU’ spot by signing Brazilian defender Eder Militao from Porto instead.
