West Ham United have reportedly made contact with Sevilla winger Joaquin Correa – could he swap La Liga for the Premier League and the London Stadium?

If Manuel Pellegrini is looking for a player who will excite West Ham fans and get them off their seats for all the right reasons, he has made a good choice with Joaquin Correa.

But who is this floppy-haired 23-year-old? Well, avid La Liga and Champions League viewers will tell you that Correa is one of the most exciting talents in Spanish football on his day.
The two-time Argentina international has not always been the most consistent performer since he joined Sevilla from Sampdoria for around £11 million in 2016 but there are few better players to watch in La Liga.

Correa is an old-school dribbler by trade, someone who can run at opposition backlines, commit defenders and skip past them with a clever trick or a burst of acceleration. In theory, Correa is perfect for English football.

He certainly has a good record against English opposition. He scored a brilliant goal against Leicester City in the 2016/17 Champions League knockout phase and changed the game when he came off the bench against Liverpool in November’s thrilling 3-3 draw.
On paper, Correa would be the sort of signing who could make West Ham one of the Premier League’s most attractive sides again. And, whisper it but at just 23 he could be even better than Lanzini.
