Premier League trio West Ham United, Southampton and Liverpool are reportedly interested in signing Brighton and Hove Albion midfielder Pascal Gross.
Pascal Gross has not quite lived up to the lofty standards in his second season as a Brighton and Hove Albion player but this has not stopped the speculation swirling around as we hurtle towards the January transfer window.
The Mirror claimed that Liverpool are considering a £15 million bid for a player Jurgen Klopp knows well for his time in the Bundesliga.
The Express (12 December, page 49), meanwhile, believes that Southampton were hoping to raid their South Coast rivals for the highly-rated Gross while West Ham United have been linked too by Calciomercato.
But how does Gross, a bargain £3 million signing from Ingolstadt in 2017, feel about suggestions that his time at Brighton is coming to an end? Well, speaking to The Argus, the midfielder has made it clear that he is happy with life at the Amex right now.
“I am really enjoying and I’m really happy to play in the Premier League with Brighton,” Gross said when asked if he could leave in January.
“I hope we can continue as we have done. At the moment that is everything I care about, the game on Saturday and that’s it.
“All the other stuff, that’s not my business.”
The 27-year-old German scored seven goals and assisted eight more last season and was arguably the main reason why Brighton avoided relegation in their first season of Premier League football.
And Gross would be a fine addition for a Southampton side now managed by Ralph Hasenhuttl or Manuel Pellegrini’s free-flowing and attack-minded West Ham side.
