Tottenham Hotspur look to have missed their chance to bring Real Betis’s Sanabria to the Premier League as he is Serie A bound.

One week ago today, the Independent reported that Tottenham Hotspur had renewed their interest in the forever-linked striker Toni Sanabria.
The 22-year-old Paraguayan has been tipped to sign for Spurs for as long as living memory will allow, even if he has not quite lived up to expectations since signing for Real Betis in 2017. Sanabria has scored just five La Liga goals this season.
Then again, the former Barcelona and Roma forward is a real natural-born poacher; a penalty-box predator with huge potential. In the absence of Harry Kane, he would have been a welcome, and potentially inspired, addition.
But, just seven days after the reports emerged, it seems Sanabria is on the verge of joining a new club – although it is not Tottenham.

Sky has reported that the South American is on the verge of a move to Genoa, where he will replace AC Milan’s new centre-forward Krzysztof Piatek. Sanabria will arrive in Serie A on loan with the option of an £18 million permanent deal.
“I’m happy to be back in Italy, I’m ready for this new adventure,” Sanabria told Sky. “I really want to get to know my teammates and start this new era.
“Genoa can be the right place for me.”
Spurs look to have missed out on Sanabria for good.
