Real Madrid manager Julen Lopetegui reportedly wants to reunite with Porto midfielder Hector Herrera, who is also on the radar of Premier League side Spurs.

A good World Cup can really open doors for a player. And just three months after that brilliant performance in Mexico’s 1-0 win against Germany in Russia, Hector Herrera seems to be attracting attention from some of Europe’s elite.
Calciomercato have claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing the combative midfielder, who captained Porto to their first league title in five years back in May.
A deep-lying midfielder with an all-round skill-set, Herrera could be seen as the long-term successor to Mousa Dembele in North London.
But Spurs’ best laid plans could soon go awry now Real Madrid are involved.
Los Blancos boss Julen Lopetegui knows Herrera from his time in charge of Porto in 2014/15 and, according to AS, he met with Herrera in Portugal last week.

Real Madrid were understood to have been impressed by the 28-year-old’s standout World Cup performances and could see him as a replacement for Mateo Kovacic, who is on loan at Chelsea.
Herrera’s contract expires next summer and AS claim that Porto could be willing to accept around £18 million in the New Year. But what chance do Spurs have with Real Madrid in the race?
The fact that Herrera has a great relationship with Lopetegui only makes things tougher for Spurs.
