Scottish Premiership challengers Rangers are reportedly tracking Gillingham’s red-hot League One goal-scorer Tom Eaves ahead of the January transfer window.

Rangers fans would have gone into this season with a huge amount of confidence in the strikers at Steven Gerrard’s disposal.
But, with just weeks remaining until the January transfer window opens, it is becoming quickly apparent that a new goalkeeper is needed at Ibrox.
Alfredo Morelos remains brilliant yet combustible, sent off three times this season, Kyle Lafferty has not scored in nine games, while Umar Sadiq’s forgettable loan spell from Roma looks doomed.
But is Tom Eaves really the man Rangers need to spark their title charge back into life? According to Sky Sports, the Glasgow giants are tracking Gillingham’s goal-scoring talisman, who is a player in the form of his life right now.
The nomadic centre-forward has scored 13 goals in 25 games in all competitions this season, a ratio better than one-in-two. Even in mid-December, this is already the second most prolific campaign of Eaves’ career.

He is five goals away from matching last season’s tally of 18 – and that took him 47 games.
The question is whether the 26-year-old can make the step up to a bona fide giant of a club in Rangers.
The former Shrewsbury, Rotherham and Yeovil man has had an inconsistent career and it remains to be seen whether the penny has dropped or if he is merely in the midst of a purple patch.
