Glasgow Rangers reportedly want USA goalkeeper Klinsmann and he is leaving Bundesliga outfit Hertha Berlin.
Jonathan Klinsmann has confirmed to Bild that he will leave Hertha Berlin this summer, with Rangers among the clubs linked with the highly-rated goalkeeper.
Both Jak Alnwick and Wes Foderingham are expected to leave Ibrox this summer and the Scottish Sun claims that Rangers have lined up Klinsmann, the son of Germany legend Jurgen, as a potential replacement.
Despite being a regular fixture for the Hertha’s reserve side, the 22-year-old has never made a Bundesliga appearance and the report suggested that he was growing frustrated with his lack of opportunities in the capital.
And now Klinsmann himself has confirmed that speculation is absolutely on the money, announcing that he will leave Hertha once his contract expires in July.
“I have learned a lot in the two years, now I want to reach the next level,” said Klinsmann, who has played for the USA at youth level.
“Unfortunately, that was not possible with Hertha.”
Bild adds that Rangers sent a scout to watch Klinsmann in action during a 2-0 win against Lok Leizpig last week, the highly-rated goalkeeper picking up his fifth clean sheet of the season.
He also has offers on the table from as yet unnamed clubs in Switzerland and Austria. But will Rangers now take their chance to sign Klinsmann on a free instead?
