Steve McClaren is reportedly keen to reunite with his ex-Derby County striker Chris Martin once he returns to the Championship with Queens Park Rangers.

Queens Park Rangers fans could be forgiven for reserving judgement on the impending appointment of Steve McClaren.
After all, there are not too many more divisive managers in English football right now than the man who thrived at Middlesbrough, FC Twente and Derby County and failed spectacularly at Nottingham Forest, Newcastle United and, of course, England.
But McClaren does have a useful contact book after 20 years in top level coaching and he could take full use of that at Loftus Road.

The 29-year-old is at a crucial point in his career and needs a fresh start, having fallen well down the pecking order at Pride Park and scoring just once in ten games on loan at Reading from January until May.
But Martin enjoyed the best period of his career under McClaren at Derby, netting 46 goals in 97 games in two seasons under the affable coach in the East Midlands between 2013 and 2015.

And Queens Park Rangers could certainly do with a striker capable of netting double figures with ease if they really want to push for a place in the play-offs next season.
If McClaren could work his magic on Martin again, QPR could have one of the Championship’s most lethal hitmen in their attack.
