Championship duo Nottingham Forest, Cardiff City and Premier League newcomers Sheffield United are all linked with Ligue 1 midfielder Sankhare.

Bordeaux midfielder Younousse Sankhare has admitted to L’Equipe that he feels he is being forced out of the Ligue 1 club with Nottingham Forest, Sheffield United and Cardiff City reportedly interested in luring him across the channel.
The writing was certainly on the wall for Sankhare when he was left out of Bordeaux’s squad for their pre-season tour last week. The 29-year-old Senegal international joined Les Girondins from Lille two years ago but, ever since ex-Leicester City boss Paulo Sousa took over in Wine Country, the experienced midfielder appears to have been on borrowed time.
TEAMtalk claimed recently that Cardiff were leading the chase while preparing a bid to bring Sankhare to South Wales, with Sheffield United also interested.
Nottingham Forest, meanwhile, were linked via France Football.
And Sankhare has now spoken out about his future, making it clear that he is likely to have a new club by the time next season kicks off – whether he wants to leave or not.
“I do not understand the position in which I am. The coach (Paulo Sousa) made it clear that he was not counting on me, that I had to find a way out. OK, but I will not leave for just any club,” he said.

Clearly, Nottingham Forest, Cardiff and Sheffield United will have work to do convincing Sankhare, who is valued at £4.5 million (BBC), to join them with the new campaign just weeks away.
You would imagine that Sheffield United have a rather substantial advantage, given that they will be playing Premier League football next season.
