Reported Leeds United and West Bromwich Albion target Sam McCallum has admitted to Kent Online that he dreams of playing in the Premier League.

Leeds and the Baggies might still be Championship clubs but, should the season go as planned, they will both be back in the promised land this time next year. Slaven Bilic’s West Brom are top of the table after 11 games with Leeds just two points behind.

And while both clubs are battling for a place in the automatic promotion positions, they could go to war in the boardroom too with McCallum attracting plenty of interest after a fine start to the season for Coventry City.

Coventry Live claims that the teenager has admirers at Elland Road with the Express and Star adding that West Brom are also firmly in the race to secure his sought-after signature.

“Playing in the premiership is obviously still a dream,” says McCallum, who caught the eye at Jamie Vardy’s V9 academy during his time at non-league Herne Bay.

“If I went all the way it’d be so big for me because I’m one of those millions of kids who have wanted it.”

The battle over McCallum adds another intriguing subplot to what is already shaping up to be a fierce challenge for promotion this season with Leeds and West Brom arguably the two title favourites despite an impressive start from the likes of Nottingham Forest and Swansea City.

McCallum won’t come cheap however with Coventry coach Mark Robins claiming that he will cost a ‘hell of a lot of money‘.
