Celtic reportedly want to sign Aberdeen’s Scottish Premiership captain Graeme Shinnie this summer.

Celtic have been linked with a shock swoop for Graeme Shinnie today, with the Bristol Post claiming the Aberdeen captain is a transfer target for the Scottish Premiership champions.
The 27-year-old is an established Scotland international, one of the league’s most influential players and a dependable presence who could strengthen Celtic’s options both in central midfield and at left-back.
On paper, he would be an inspired addition on a free transfer, enhancing the Hoops’ squad while severely weakening a domestic rival.
But there is one problem. Just a few months ago, Shinnie accused Celtic and Scott Brown of lacking class after the Dons’ League Cup final defeat to Brendan Rodgers’ side at Hampden Park.
“There are ways to go about things as a captain. You can have a bit of class about you — they don’t and it frustrated me. But we have to deal with it,” the former Inverness favourite told the Scottish Sun.

This could be a little awkward. After all, Shinnie would be a direct competitor for the ultimate pantomime villain should he make the switch to Parkhead, given that they both play in the same deep-lying midfield role.
But, while Brown has often attracted plenty of criticism from opposition fans, players and coaches alike, he remains the ultimate professional at Celtic and he would surely put any problems out of his mind if the Hoops secure a deal to bring Shinnie to Glasgow.
