Iran’s 2018 World Cup star Milad Mohammadi has been linked with Scottish Premiership powerhouses Celtic and Rangers.

With the summer transfer window looming large, Celtic and Rangers will be turning their attention to potential incomings over the next few weeks. The Old Firm rivals don’t agree on many things but they have surely been united in their need for a new full-back in the summer.
It is well documented that Celtic are crying out for a long-term Mikael Lustig replacement while Emilio Izaguirre is expected to bid farewell in the summer. Rangers, meanwhile, could do with a left-back due to the injury problems that have dogged Borna Barisic at Ibrox.
The future of captain James Tavernier, meanwhile, is still shrouded in doubt.
Fortunately, Milad Mohammadi can play on both the right and the left. The Iranian international shot to fame at last summer’s World Cup and the Scottish Sun claimed that his performances over in Russia left both Celtic and Rangers impressed.

And don’t be surprised if Mohammadi makes a sudden return to the gossip columns. Because his contract at Russian outfit Akhmat Grozny expires at the end of June, meaning he will be a free agent in just two months’ time.
Athletic, versatile and solid in defence, Mohammadi is a risk worth taking considering that he will not cost a single penny.
