Reported Camacho and Adekanye snubs highlight a growing problem at Liverpool

Premier League title chasers Liverpool could lose both Rafa Camacho and Bobby Adekanye amid links with Barcelona and Wolves.

There may be a worrying trend developing at Anfield. In the space of just a few weeks, two of the club’s most highly rated youngsters have allegedly rejected new contracts and could be about to walk away from Liverpool in the summer.

Speaking to Voetbal Zone in March, Dutch youth star Bobby Adekanye confirmed that he has turned down a long-term deal at the Merseyside giants while accusing the club of breaking promises after he was left out of the club’s pre-season tour of the USA.

Adekanye has admitted that he could return to Barcelona, having spent time in the famous La Masia academy before he joined Liverpool in 2015.

And, on Thursday, the Sun (11 April, page 52) claimed that Rafael Camacho has also rejected a five-year contract with Wolverhampton Wanderers hoping to sign the £10 million-rated teenager (Goal).

18-year-old Camacho is highly regarded by Jurgen Klopp and made his Premier League debut against Crystal Palace recently. If he stays at Anfield, more first-team opportunities will surely come his way.

But we are in an era where young players seem to be becoming increasingly frustrated when being forced to wait for their chance.

Perhaps encouraged by the success of Jadon Sancho, who has thrived since walking out of Manchester City for Borussia Dortmund, the likes of Adekanye and Camacho know that opportunities are out there if they look for them.

And after City lost arguably the most promising talent in English football, a similar problem is taking shape at Liverpool.
