West Ham United have reportedly had a £35m bid rejected for Atalanta’s Serie A striker Duvan Zapata.

West Ham United’s pursuit of a new centre-forward has seemingly taken them far and wide during the January transfer window.

After links with the likes of Benjamin Tetteh, Krzysztof Piatek, Alvaro Morata and Olivier Giroud, the Bergamo Post claims the Hammers have tested the water with a huge bid for the Atalanta forward Duvan Zapata.

The Colombian has scored 17 goals for the Serie A side this season while producing another five assists. And the report claims that West Ham were willing to pay £35 million, which would be their record fee for a centre-forward.

Atalanta have rejected their opening offer, but it is worth noting that Zapata made some very intriguing comments just last week about a potential move to England.

“In Colombia, we love the Premier League. Who knows. One day I could play there,” the 28-year-old, who idolises Arsenal legend Thierry Henry, told Corriere della Serra.

Renowned for his rapid speed off the mark and ice-cool finishing, the former Napoli front man is in the form of his life right now and the prospect of him lining up alongside Felipe Anderson in attack should get West Ham fans drooling.
